We’re in the month of incredibly colorful foliage and a bounty of Halloween / Harvest / Dia de los Muertos things to do. As we celebrate sweater weather and all the cozies that come with it, we present our roundup of what we find to be In Good Taste in October.

Ongoing events In Good Taste in October:

4 Noses Brewing opens its new location in Park Hill, softly. The grand opening is Oct. 20. Visit the website for details.

Halloween and Harvest Adrift has Halloween-themed cocktails and food items this month including Dante’s Inferno Room, Ectoplasm Punch, Fire and Brimstone Noodles, and Frankenstein’s Smashed Burger.

Amoako Boafo: Soul of Black Folks is the debut museum solo exhibition tour for the Ghanaian artist. The Denver Art Museum exhibit, running Oct. 8-Feb. 19, 2024, features artworks focusing the viewers’ gaze on his subjects’ presence through portraits representing Black life.

Antlers at Vail hotel has a Vail Date Night package that includes a guest suite with a bottle of wine plus a visit to Root & Flower wine and cocktail.
Ballet Ariel presents “Aurora’s Wedding,” the third act from “Sleeping Beauty,” frequently performed on its own because of the entertainment factor. Set to the score by Tchaikovsky, the story follows the wedding of Princess Aurora and Prince Desire, whose guests straight out of fairy tales entertain them as part of the celebration. Performances are Oct. 7, 14, and 15.

News BurnDown is now serving brunch, weekends starting at 10am. Offerings include The Captains French Toast with Cap N’ Crunch crusted outside and stuffed with a mixed berry cream, topped with berry compote. Or the Hangover Burger with roasted garlic aioli, hashbrowns and fried egg. Try the BurnDown Bloody or Mimosa too.

Cabaret, presented by Vintage Theatre, runs through Oct. 22. The production is set in Berlin during the twilight of the Jazz Age.

Canstruction® Colorado is a city-wide competition in which architects and designers build life-size structures entirely out of canned food, which will be donated to We Don’t Waste and distributed to local communities at the end of the exhibit. See it for about three weeks starting Oct. 10 at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

News CD’s Wings, a locally-owned fast-casual wing spot in Westminster has announced a new location in Aurora and one coming soon to Parker. They serve bone-in, boneless, tenders, and chicken sandwiches plus all the sides.

Halloween and Harvest Corn Maze at Chatfield Farms provides seven acres of meandering corn with a 15-foot-tall bridge for viewing. There’s a mini-maze for kids under 10. The event runs through Oct. 29.

Corrida’s Alpenglobes are back on the rooftop. Each can seat up to six people and are available for booking via Open Table. This year, there’s no set menu – order a la carte from the regular menu. There is a minimum food and beverage spend though.

Dia de los Muertos will be celebrated at Toro and Tamayo restaurants Oct. 3-Nov. 5 with food specials with optional drink pairings and cocktails with paired light bites.

News Done Deal, a new wine and cocktail lounge in the lobby of Republic Plaza will open late Fall. Chef Troy Guard’s project will provide wine, cocktail, local craft beer, charcuterie, and apps.

Doors Open Denver 2023 runs Oct. 6-16, featuring two new audio tours that celebrate Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. Five Points Fortitude takes listeners on a guided stroll through the neighborhood to see 14 different locations of architectural and historical significance.

Dreamgirls, an iconic musical featuring a predominantly BIPOC cast, is about pursuing dreams at all costs. It runs Oct. 19-29 at Lone Tree Arts Center.

Halloween and Harvest Fang Bang Immersive Vampire Bar Experience comes to Denver’s Sports Castle. The 80’s Goth/New Wave vampire bar includes hourly performances by underground drag and burlesque performers in a creepy environment plus horror-themed cocktails and dancing.

Fat Sully’s NY Pizza provides Ultimate Tailgate Kits available for delivery and pickup with pizza, garlic knots, salad, and wings depending on which package you order.

Festa del Chianti Classico tickets are on sale now for the two-day event in November in partnership between Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico, Frasca Hospitality Group and Tavernetta. There will be seminars, tastings, and a feast.

First Bite, celebrating Boulder’s dining scene, is Oct. 20-29 this year. There will be food tours, a lamb dinner, culinary field trip, film screening, and opportunities to enjoy delicious food at a variety of price points.

Halloween and Harvest Flight Club has a specialty menu featuring limited-time cocktails for Halloween plus a Virtual Costume Contest, spooky decorations and seasonal food. For the costume, snap a pic of your costumed self in the venue and tag them to be entered. Winners will get a Flight Club Friendsgiving.

FlyteCO Brewing has a collection of events happening this month: the release of Thunder Twins IPA at the end of October, honoring trailblazing Negro Leagues baseball; vendor fair Oct. 7; adult art class Oct. 13, Fall Fest Oct. 22, and Halloween Dance Party Oct. 27.

Halloween and Harvest Ghosts in the Gardens – Open Air Scare lets you stroll dimly-lit paths of Denver Botanic Gardens after hours, listening to haunting stories about the Gardens’ 100 years of history. The tour includes a visit inside the Waring House for an exclusive visit of the Beaux-Arts style mansion and its secrets. The event runs Oct. 13-15 and 26-29.

Halloween and Harvest Glow at the Gardens ™, Oct. 17-22, is the annual luminous, nighttime celebration of larger-than-life sculptures of real pumpkins from Denver Botanic Gardens own farms. Performing artists bring spirits and specters to life.

Golden’s “Itty Bitty Art” program expands with 14 new pieces. The tiny art works are installed in unexpected places like a hole in a tree or on the top of a bike rack, all created by Colorado Artists. A map is available to help you discover these little treasures.

Hot Dog Monday is back at Our Mutual Friend Brewing Company. Put on pause during the pandemic, the popular event offers one free “basic AF” hot dog with the purchase of any full-size beer, starting at 4pm every Monday.

News Lady Nomada has opened a second location. In addition to Olde Town Arvada, the “Baja-rado Taqueria & Bar” is also in the Belmar Shopping District.

Halloween and Harvest Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns at Hudson Gardens runs through Oct. 31, put on by the Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group. Stroll a glowing trail of more than 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins with larger-than-life displays.

News Maine Shack will open a new location on Pearl Street this Fall. The spot will have an expanded menu, including a selection of Boulder-only dishes, a full bar, plenty of seating indoors and out.

Museum for Black Girls is open in the Denver Pavilions. The immersive pop-up sensory museum features more than 15 art installations so that guests can interact the art. The intention was to highlight black girl magic moments but the organizers of the traveling event encourage everyone to come.

Neustadt JAAMM Series returns with events including Author Dini Klein talking dinner prep; the Jewish Book Sale; Author Thom Shanker speaking on the Age of Danger: Keeping America Safe in an Era of New Superpowers, New Weapons, New Threats; and The Braid presents “True Colors,” a salon theatre show in which Jews of Color share true stores of yearning for belonging and the search for identity.

Halloween and Harvest Poka Muah Ha Ha at Poka Lola Social Club serves up a spooky atmosphere and cocktails specials all month including The Dark Side of Sesame Street and Jack the Sipper.

Rooted Craft Kitchen is honoring the memory of beloved Colorado Chef Matt Selby throughout October with a special dish, “Matty’s Wacky Apples.” This dessert, originally created by Matt Selby, was a guest favorite at Vesta. The dish features Fuji apples, frosted flakes, vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, fresh berries, and mint sprigs. All sales of the dish will support Matt’s family.

Seven Grand hosts three whiskey tasting events, Oct. 4, 5, and 7. Some are paired with food. Advanced registration is required.

Spade & Spoon, the Front Range meal kit delivery services focusing on Colorado producers, is releasing their fall menus that feature Ela Farms, Hoffman Farm, Pasture Provisions and more. Visit their website for details and to learn about DIY boxes for kids, their new program.

Halloween and Harvest Spooky Speakeasy runs Oct. 19-31 in the Denver Union Station Gallery for a pop-up bar with a New Orleans voodoo vibe. Enjoy creepy handcrafted cocktails. Reservations are not required.

Super Mega Bien has new owners and a new fall menu. Executive Chef Victor Mena and his wife Jenn Mena-Wenstrom recently joined chef Dana Rodriguez in ownership of the restaurant as part of Rodriguez/ vision to pass the legacy of the restaurant on. New dishes include Chivito Lamb meatballs, Croquetas, Coconut Flan and more.

NEWS The Rouge Wine & Bourbon Bistro in Greenwood Village is changing its name to The Rouge Wine & Bourbon Bistro to emphasize the business’s new food-forward approach serving lunch and dinner.

Three Saints Revival will donate $1 of each “Rosé All Day” flight to Hope Lives! The Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center.

News Tocabe Indigenous Marketplace has new Harvest Meals. The direct-to-consumer, ready-made entrees are sourced directly from Native farmers and producers and are diverse, from the Bison Sonoran Bowl to Vegan Posu Bowl.

Toro will host flavor-tripping experience classes every Friday in October. Guests will enjoy various snacks and drinks after consuming a miracle berry which temporarily alters taste perception turning sour and bitter flavors into sweetness. Class size is limited.

Tribe Riverwalk in Castle Rock, has launched a new seasonal menu that includes Delicata Squash Donuts, Butternut Squash Soup, Rainbow Trout, Colorado-made Sausages, Apple Cider Spritz and more.

Yo Soy Arte: Calacas y Catrinas, happening through Nov. 5 is Denver Botanic Gardens’ new event celebrating Mexican culture and the artistic traditions of Dia de los Muertos.

World Sake Day is celebrated at sister concepts, Osaka Ramen and Sushi-Rama with 25% off all sake all day long. Osaka’s RiNo location is making October Sake month with weekly pairing menues, tasters, off-menu bites and more.

October 3

Somm’s Table Dinner at Noble Riot with Antonio Benanti of Mount Etna, Sicily, brings a five-course dinner and wine pairing experience, celebrating the host winemaker’s family.

Steve Perry Loves Me, a new play, will be performed at The Roaming Gnome Theatre in Aurora, presented by And Toto too Theatre Company. It’s the story of a trauma therapist for refugees who writes to Steve Perry while going through her own personal crisis, believing he is a kindred spirit.

October 4 – National Taco Day!

Chuey’s is celebrating with $1 ground beef tacos to add to any entrée plus $1 tequila floaters for rocks or frozen margaritas. Come in dressed like a taco on the 4th, post a photo to social media with #CheysTacoDay and get a free, dine-in entrée of your choice.

Super Mega Bien will be serving two Pulpo al Pastor tacos for $11. The spin on the traditional al pastor features octopus, achiote, pico de gallo, pineapple and grilled lime.

Toro has a deal on Blackened Tuna Tacos ($9, regularly $18) and Al Pastor Zucchini Tacos ($7.50 regularly $15.)

October 5

Rocky Mountain Oyster Day is celebrated with the folks who really know how to prepare them, The Fort. The, yes, bull testicles, are tossed in panko crumbs, deep-fried and served with a tangy-sweet chile sauce or as Rocky Mountain Oysters Rockefeller with spinach and cream.

October 6

15 Year Anniversary Celebration at The Infinite Monkey Theorem includes vendors, a DJ, and wine can deals.

German American Day at Rhein Haus serves up house-made sausages and pretzels plus German salads, and entrees including Pork Schnitzel. Sip a variety of German, Belgian and American beers.

October 7

Denver Bake Fest, a new community baking festival and contest, invites home bakers to enter in categories including bread, cake, chocolate chip cookie, and others. The event is also in celebration of Rebel Bread’s 5th birthday.

Sweat & Support: THE Breast Cancer Fundraiser with FITT Co is a morning of working out and hanging out on Denver’s largest outdoor patio, Number Thirty Eight. Sweat, eat, drink and socialize to raise money for the organization that aims to preserve the dignity of breast cancer patients with compassionate care.

October 8

Food & Wine Dinner at Le French’s Belleview location offers up a five-course food and wine paired menu that highlights globally-inspired fair including Brie Fondu & Jambon Cru and Saint Jacques Amande & Beurre Noisette.

October 9

Your Issue by Troy Lakey will be the next project in the 2023 Queer Reading Series project, at The Savoy. It’s a production of And Toto too Theatre Company.

October 10

The event will be immediately followed by a Meat & Greet Reception at Corrida with a chance to meet the filmmaker Peter Byck.

World Mental Health Day Spirit-Free Cocktail Competition at Nocturne features bartenders showcasing their favorite non-alcoholic cocktails, competing for People’s Choice with proceeds supporting Culinary Hospitality Outreach Wellness (CHOW). Ticketed guests get to sample and enjoy live music.

Halloween and Harvest Mile High Flea Market’s Halloween Celebration is a family-friendly event with free candy and activities including facepainting and a balloon artist. The first 300 kids who get their trick-or-treat bag from the market receive a free ride ticket and pumpkin decorating kit.

National Dessert Day at Slater’s 50/50 includes Strawberry Cheesecake Shake, Ultimate S’more Shake, and Pumpkin Pie Shake.

Oktoberfest beers from around the country will be tapped at Hops & Pie including Half Acre Lagertown Oktoberfest, Urban Chestnut O-Kaz Oktoberfest, and von Trapp Oktoberfest among others. The Polka Folka band will be playing too.

Rocky Mountain Jewgrass band will perform, reuniting the band that started in 2007. They blend the sounds of the bluegrass worlds of biscuits and hushpuppies with pastrami on rye and potato latkes for a unique sound.

We’re going, are you? Amadeus Live screens the famous movie with the score performed live by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. It runs Oct. 21 too.

Halloween and Harvest Halloween Masquerade Ball & Costume Contest lets you dance to tunes by a live DJ with drag performances by Valentino Flora and Juiccy Misdemeanor. Make a masquerade mask and then compete in the costume contest.

Q BBQ Fest Boulder happens Oct. 2021. Learn, feast, and enjoy the deliciousness from pitmasters from across the country. If it’s anything like the Denver in previous years, you’re going to want to go!

October 21

At East Art Night, the first such event by the Denver Art Society, is a relaxed and interactive evening with acoustic music, a serene atmosphere and opportunity to create a communal piece of art.

Halloween and Harvest Carving & Cocktails, offered during two sessions, provides a pumpkin, Jack-o-Lantern carving wherewithal and two seasonal. It all happens at the Terminal Bar.

National Mezcal Day at Kachina Cantina offers up a Oaxacan Sunset to celebrate. The cocktail is fruity and smoky with Union Mezcal, Passoã passion fruit liqueur, Aperol and grapefruit topped with pineapple and rosemary.

October 22

Halloween and Harvest 6th Annual Fall Flannel Festival returns to Dairy Block and Denver Milk Market with a free, family-friendly event that includes live music, face painting, kids craft stations, trick-or-treating, Paw Patrol characters and live reptiles from The Denver Aquarium. Come dressed in your favorite flannel or Halloween costume.

October 24

Chef Takeover at Point Easy hosts Chef Luis Herrera of Ensenada in New York for a coastal Mexican themed five-course dinner featuring tequila and mezcal cocktails.

October 25

Halloween and Harvest BOOnion Station Trick-or-Treat Parade is a free, family-friendly event with trick-or-treating, mini-train rides, balloon artists, face painting and more. There’ll even be costume contests.

Halloween and Harvest Deviation Distilling holds a Halloween cocktail class. From “blood” syringes to dry ice, there’ll be spooky things to learn to make for your own party.

Texas de Brazil hosts a Port & Chocolate Tasting Event. Enjoy signature churrasco bites as port ambassadors guide you through an educational evening with product history, tasting notes, dried fruits, cheese and gourmet chocolate. Proceeds benefit Warrior Rising.

October 26

The Upbeat – Live Jazz at Postino WineCafe features music by the Jesse Troutman trio, running from 6-8pm at the LoHi location.

Halloween and Harvest Annual Black & White Masquerade at Le French is a 1920’s theme event with dancing, champagne and passed hors d’oeuvres at the new 9_CO location.

October 27

17 Year Anniversary Party at SAME Cafe features an Italian menu with Pasta Bolognese with homemade noodles as well as sides and desserts and selfie wall.

Halloween and Harvest Disney in Concert: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas runs through Oct. 28, in performance with the Colorado Symphony.

Halloween and Harvest BOO-runch at The OG is available Oct. 27-31 with items like Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, Graveyard Dirt Cups and Spiked Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew.

Halloween and Harvest Halloween Party at Rhein Haus with themed menu offerings, a photo booth, costume contest, karaoke and DJ.

Halloween and Harvest Halloween Weekend at Spice Trade Brewing runs Oct. 27-30 with a costume contest. There’s also a Bring Your Own Pumpkin carving event and opportunities to have #PSL Pumpkin Spice Latter beer or Oktoberfest Festbier.

Halloween and Harvest Murder Mystery Dinner at The Fort includes a four-course meal of menu favorites, a cocktail, and participating in solving the mystery.

October 28

Halloween and Harvest Beet & Yarrow Spooky Halloween Design Workshop teaches insider expertise on how to use products of the season to transform your home. Sip a complimentary mimosa while you’re at it. Advanced registration is required.

Halloween and Harvest Coloween happens with two huge dance floors, crazy decor, 40 bars, club-style DJ’s and a costume contest.

Halloween and Harvest Fuel & Iron’s Halloween Party in Pueblo is an adult-focused bash with costume contest, drink specials and food.

Halloween and Harvest Howl-a-Ween Pet Parade, at Denver Union Station, is your pooch’s chance to show off their favorite costume. Foothills Animal Shelter will be on-site.

Halloween and Harvest Lone Tree Brewing’s GABF award-winning Hop Zombie Imperial Red IPA will be available for one day only for tasting. Each year a line forms to taste it. The first 10 people in line will get a free, limited-edition Hop Zombie glass.

October 29

Harkins Theatres honors actor Richard Roundtree with a special tribute screening of Shaft. He played the ultimate in cool Black detectives. It happens at select theaters, 2pm, for $5.

October 30

Oliver’s Italian opens in Greenwood Village. It’s from the same folks who bring you Blue Island Oyster Bar.

The Power of Peacemaking is a thought-provoking film screening and community-strengthening workshop featuring the documentary The Abortion Talks. The film is presented in partnership between YWCA Boulder County announced today that it will be partnering with Boulder JCC and YOUnify.
